2006
22-Oct-06 - London Social.
Another of the legendary London Social was thrown at the weekend to coincide with fake-German Hornet - Chris Ek's visit to London. This social was tamer in terms of venues but just as debauched as ever. Good to see so many Hornets from both past and present... and rumour has it that another social is only weeks away with a trip to the Swan, Stockwell, on the cards.
25-Sep-06 - Flick nightmare ends Stratford trophy dreams.
In a nailbiting finish to the Stratford Festival weekend the Hornets lost out on flicks in the Sunday final having been eliminated in the Semis on the Saturday competition. Despite the disappointment of the final result, this marked the end of the Hornets' most successful season ever! League hockey starts soon so it is back to everyone's respective clubs until the next tour season starts... roll on Easter '07.
06-Aug-06 - Stupid System Spoils Silverware.

Success is in the air - at the fourth time of asking the Hornets have beaten everyone to secure the top step of the Guildford Festival Winners Podium. The huge trophy has been placed in the Streatham Clubhouse.

18-Apr-06 - Guernsey Festival round-up.
Congratulations are due to all those players who competed in the Easter Tour 2006 in Guernsey a well earned - if not taxing - win for the club. The Hornets are now officially the Plate winners of 2006 for the Guernsey Festival. The non-existant trophy will be placed in our invisible cabinet and all are welcome to imagine looking at it at your next convenience.
As far as I can remember (and please challenge me if incorrect) the results of the weekend were as follows:
- Pool B: vs Plymouth L0-4
- Pool B: vs Pageant Queens L1-2 (Norris)
- Pool B: vs Lydney Hockey W3-0 (Norris, Cat, Mel)
- Plate Semi-Final: vs Westgate W3-0 (Ellie x2, Own Goal)
- Plate Final: vs Alcoholics Utd W3-0 (James, Norris, Mel)
14-Feb-06 - Bath Festival confirmed for 2006.
As usual the festival kicks off on the first weekend in August and as usual the Hornets will be there in force. Starting on Fri 4th August in the evening and lasting through to Sunday 6th Aug with the format of the weekend is very similar to a successful last year....the focus is very much on festival hockey! Friday Night will, once again, be at the Sulis Club with a DJ, refreshments and the obvious bar! Saturday night will be at the university, starting at the Parade bar and then moving onto Elements, the university night club. The fancy dress theme for the Saturday night this year will be 'Uniforms'. Accommodation will be on the university campus for those who require it. Again a similar format to the weekend as last year in terms of hockey (on Astro and good old grass!) with a variety of food and beer from a convenient pitchside marquee. - There will also be a festival match on the Sunday where nominated festival goers play against the 'Buccs Select XI'?! obviously in festival spirit though! Invitations for this tour will be mailed out nearer the time.
29-Jan-06 - Pre-Tour Social plans mooted.
Its been a number of months since the last Hornets tour and even longer since the last Hornets social. As such it is mooted that there should be a social event in London some time in March - most probably 04 March. An email will be sent round shortly inviting people along to the event.
01-Jan-06 - Guernsey Easter 2006 Plans well underway!
The Easter Tour 2006 has been agreed and the Hornets are off to the Channel Islands - Guernsey. The tour has been booked but this year everyone is beling asked to organise their own transport and accommodation. For those who enjoy the comfort of a Hotel there are multiple options and for the slightly more pikey members there is also somewhere to camp! An email has gone round notifying the club and there are still some places available but they are going quickly. The price is £25. Those interested need to sort their accommodation & transport arrangements asap as there are only limited options and the prices are at their cheapest before Xmas. For more details about the tour please contact MJ for further details.
