04/08/03 - Stratford Tour entry confirmed
Once again the Hornets have entered the Stratford-upon-Avon Mixed Festival. The dates for this festival will be over the weekend of the 19/21-September-03. As usual accommodation will be camping unless people make their own alternative arrangements. If you want further information or are interested in coming then please contact us for further details.
03/08/03 - Bath 2003 Round-up
Another great tour to Bath in the bag and a return to form for the Hornets! The results were split evenly between good and bad with 3 wins and one draw from seven games. Hockey was less of a focus on this tour and more of an incidental to the drinking - some may say this is the right order! However, one member of the team did come away with a medal... MJ was the hornet representative in the Festival exhibition game where the invitational XI beat the hosts select XI by 3-0. Thanks to all those who took part in the weekend and roll on the Stratford Tour.

The Hornets tour CD is undergoing a revamp. The previous CD - which pre-dates the Hornets themselves - is in serious need of being replaced. While there are undisputed classics that will make it to the new version, many of the old tracks are no longer relevant or even remembered. All squad members will have the chance to vote/suggest/request tunes for inclusion on the 2003 version - which will be sold at cost price once completed. If you have any requests or suggestions then please contact us for further details.
21/05/03 - Easter 2004 Tour booked
Easter Tour 2004 has already been booked up. The destination will again be Folkestone! As the Hornets won 'Team of the Festival' in 2003 it seemed only fitting that they should go back to defend their title. The cost for the tour is likely to be around £80 per person inclusive of accommodation. Also, for the second year running, the 2004 Easter tourists will be back in the relative luxury of Sunny Lodge Guest House. For more details about the tour or to reserve a place contact us for further details.
15/05/03 - Hornets confirm entry to Bath 2003

11/04/03 Folkestone rocked by Hornet power!
Congratulations must go out to everyone who took part in the Easter tour to Folkestone. It certainly has to go down as the most successful tour ever with the Hornets being voted the most sociable team at the Festival and the securing of our first ever trophy! Five wins and one draw from eight matches with a scoring rate of over 3 goals per game is unheard of... but very welcome. Well played by eveyone and a warm welcome to our two newest members - Kate Whitaker & Hannah Browster.

11/04/03 - ## Update ## Folkestone Easter Mixed Hockey Festival 18-21 April 2003
The Folkestone Easter Mixed Hockey Festival is fast approaching and many of the Hornets are gearing up in preparation... ie. drinking lots! There is a confirmed team list below and nearly all those going have paid up! On the VERY positive side it looks like tour will be cheaper than expected so partial refunds will be given on the first day.
The accommodation is all booked in an exclusive 'Hornets only' hotel. Actual rooms to be sorted out on arrival. However, the hotel has been briefed on some 'special' considerations... the 'couple' (Yeng & Andy) have a double bed and the 'snorer' (Aido) has a single in the basement! For more details on the hotel please go to www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/sunnyl
We will be checking into the hotel on the 18th about 12noon. The plan is to go to the Festival first and then check in between games - it is only about 5mins away.
The bad news is that all those playing must arrive at the Festival ground ready to play for around 1030 on the morning of Friday 18th. It is near the station so if you would prefer to coming by train is an option. The Festival ground is: The Pavilion, County Ground, Cheriton Road, Folkestone, Kent CT19 5JU. See map.
The team is as follows:
Andy Rogers (GK), MJ, Gareth, Jon, Simon, Aidan, Potty, Melanie, Yeng, Hannah, Catherine, Kate Whitaker, Suzy, Julie.
Those going on tour (especially the new players) should check out the tour rules and drinking games on 'Tour Information' link as a refresher before they leave! Anyone else interested in coming should contact us for further details.
31/03/03 - Mixed Match - Sat 17th May in Cambridge.
To combat tour withdrawal symptoms the Hornets University side would like a mixed match with the Hornets tour side. Match will be in Cambridge with some sort of evening do. The following day there is the delights of the Anglia Cup on show for those who would like to watch some (very) amateur football. Anyone interested should let Gareth know asap. Email Gareth for further details.
18/03/03 - Hornets shorts for sale!
An exclusive kit offer for the semi-naked amongst you - mainly for the guys but if you hornettes want some shorts then just let us know... White 100% cotton baggy shorts with the Anglia hornet logo and words. For about 15 pairs.-£11-40+VAT per pair. Anyone interested should let Gareth know asap. Email Gareth for further details.
27/02/03 - Easter Tour booked
The Easter Tour 2003 is all booked up. This year the tour is to Folkestone in Kent. This festival has been going for nearly 100 years and attracts teams from all over Europe. It is similar in style to Bournemouth but a little more about the hockey! The cost for the tour is £100 and the reason it is so expensive is that accommodation is included. This year's Easter tourists will be in the relative luxury of Sunny Lodge Guest House. Anyone else interested in coming should contact us for further details.
03/02/03 - New Easter Tour plans under contruction
The Hornets are in the process of sourcing a new tour for Easter. Even thought the usual tour to Bournemouth is back on it is time for a change. Sadly, quite a few regular players are unavailable for this tour so it could well be that this tour is the first time the mens team go instead of the mixed team.
