2002
26/12/02 - F62 0BH finally blows up
The tour car of ages has finally given it up for good. At about midday on Boxing day 2002 the grey Fiesta, owned by MJ, exploded in Crystal Palace. Needless to say it was a total write off!!!
10/10/02 - Hornets reveal plans for Easter 2003
For those of you who don't know, Bournemouth is dead - long live Barcelona. All good things come to an end, but not often does something brilliant come along and replace it!!! The end of the old Bournemouth Festival may be a shame but it means that everyone can go and do something less boring instead.
Barcelona has everything you would expect from one of Europe's most beautiful and lively cities. It also happens to be right next to the sea so you get a beach holiday and a city break at the same time. With the Spanish sun shining, you can't fail to get into the party mood. Your Hockey Challenge Barcelona consists of 3 days of superb hockey, plus the usual tour frolics, as sociable teams from all over the UK and beyond battle it out before hitting the town.
Prices start from £129 for a good quality hostel to £269 for a deluxe 3 star Hotel, with locations from the city centre to the quieter suburbs, plus £60 for coach travel or £100 for flights. Anyone interested in this tour should contact us for further details.
10/10/02 - Hornets announce Social
It is planned to have another social in London on the weekend of 15/16/17 Nov. The weekend will involve no hockey whatsoever and is more than likely to include a trip to the Swan in Stockwell and/or a trip to the Living Room in Brixton. Sunday will possibly include 10-Pin Bowling and a pub lunch. Those interested should contact us for further details.
09/10/02 - Stratford Festival report published

24/09/02 - Stratford Mixed Festival is a mixed bag

The Hornets are back from Tour and the results were a real contrast. The first day was pretty much a whitewash but the second day saw the team miss out on the semi-finals by just two points.
| Team | P | W | D | L | F | A | Dif | Pts |
| Hornets | 12 | 2 | 2 | 8 | 7 | 20 | -13 | 16 |
Goals: Jon Kirby (2), Gareth Norris (2), Mark Jones (2), Andy Potapa.
Much thanks has to go to Vix & Andy for both taking duties in between the sticks - especially to Andy who has never done it before and took to it like a duck to water! Congrats to Jolyon for his stirling work marshalling the defence on Saturday and to James for the same job on Sunday. Luckily Gareth finally managed to convert some chances on the Sunday and nearly took the 'Golden Stick' award but in the end had to share the spoils with Mark Jones & Jon Kirby.

07/08/02 - Hornets enter Stratford-upon-Avon Festival

05/08/02 - Bath Festival round-up
The Hornets are back from Tour and the results were:
| Team | P | W | D | L | F | A | Dif | Pts |
| Hornets | 10 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 7 | 11 | -4 | 24 |
Goals: Simon Riley (3), Gareth Norris (2), Mark Jones, Yeng Ng.
Much thanks has to go to Aidan & Durry - at the back - keeping the flows of goals from the opposition to a minimum, although they were well beaten by a Jolyon Fallon own goal against the Bath (pretend) Hornets. As for the the goals scored by the Hornets it was a real team effort with nice finishes from Simon Riley & (finally) a well taken reverse low-backhand effort from Gareth Norris. Things on the pitch are certainly on the up... maybe the Straford tour in September will result in some silverware... but then again maybe not!
19/07/02 - Website Updates
A new feature has been added. Anyone connected to Yahoo Messenger! can contact any of the Hornets who are also on messenger directly through the website - just look out for the little icons which tell who is and who isn't online. This feature is available through the squad pages. Plus an online games room has also been added for those who are on the net with not much to do!
16/07/02 - Hornets prepare for Bath Festival

13/05/02 - ## Update ## London Festival Weekend
The final plans for the London Festival weekend are available. There has been a slight change of plan to the Friday night event as the Karaoke bar has closed down! So the plan for weekend is now...
- Friday 17-May-02
8pm The Bondi Beach Bums @ the Swan in Stockwell.
One of the infamous venues in London and more importantly it serves Snakebite & Black - as standard! Playing this night are the 'Bondi Beach Bums' - The Kings of Antipodean Rock & Pop Classics aka Crowded House, INXS, Midnight Oil, Men at Work and probably even Craig McLachlan! The Swan is based at 215 Clapham Road SW9 - opposite Stockwell tube (Victoria Line). Map available here. The Swan is free admission before 8pm and £3 before 10pm - about £5-6 after - bizarrely the entrance price includes sausage, onion rings & chips. In addition to the band there will be support bands and DJs until 3am. This is the closest to a Students' Union bar you'll get! The place is always rammed so make sure you get there early.
- Saturday 18-May-02
1230pm Match @ Crystal Palace National Sports Centre (Bar pitch).
The pitch is situated next to the bar (convenient eh?) so those who are not on the pitch or would rather drink than play will be, quite literally, catered for! I've paid for the pitch so there will be a cost probably about £5 each) Map available here.
Afternoon Beers.
Once the match is finished it is off to the pub (for those who want to ie. everyone) for a few post-match beers prior to getting ready for clubbing later in the evening.
Before 9pm! Clubbing @ The Living Room in Brixton.
The bar/club has free entry before 9pm and is split into two floors. Cheesey / party music is upstairs and more serious / trendy clubbing choons are available downstairs. Both bars take credit cards and you can move freely between the two. Map available here.
- Sunday 19-May-02
Recovery Day.
A well deserved lazy day to recover for those who can hang around in London. Sunday roast at a pub... actual venue to be decided on the day.
Bath City have invited the Hornets to Bath on the 15th and 16th of June to re-live Bournemouth a little! City of Bath HC were the friendly team in the red shirts who helped out the girls team on tour this year. Currently the plan is to arrive before lunch on Saturday, have a game or two in the afternoon, spend all night painting the town yellow and black, then play again on Sunday. There will be more details nearer the time - for more details or to get involved please email Toria.
26/04/02 - London Festival Weekend: Hornets v Tulse Hill
A full program has been agreed for the weekend 17/18/19 May. The Friday night will consist of Karaoke at 'The Cask & Glass' in Central London, followed by a round robin tournament on Saturday between the Hornets and two mixed sides from Tulse Hill - the league club for many of the Hornets players. Saturday evening's event will be at 'The Living Room' in Brixton. Sunday will be a recovery day involing a pub lunch and maybe Ten-pin bowling for those still around in the evening. For more details or to get involved please email Mark.
02/04/02 - Bournemouth Festival round-up
The Hornets are back from Tour and the combined results from the Mens, Womens and mixed teams were:

| Women | 3 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 8 | -7 |

28/01/02 - Hornets take extra teams to Bournemouth
The response for the tour has been very good and as a result the hornets have now entered extra teams. At this year's Bournemouth Festival the hornets will be represented by mixed, mens and ladies sides - in all over 25 players will be turning out in hornets colours. Tour starts on Thursday 28-March-02.
28/01/02 - Hornets enter final Bournemouth Festival
The Hornets have entered a mixed team into, what is expected to be, the final Bournemouth Festival. The response has been very good and the side has already been over subscribed.
