02-Aug-09 - Hornets finish as runners-up in Bath for the 2nd time!
For the 2nd time in 3years the Hornets have made the final of the Bath Festival only to lose out on the top spot. However, unlike 2007, this time the match went right down to the wire with the scores deadlocked at 1-1 at full time. Unfortunately the Hornets lost 4-2 on flicks. The Hornets had the opportunities to wrap it up in normal time however when JK had 3 reverse low backhand shots when it seemed easier to score than miss but unfortunately he couldn't convert them, while at the other end MJ managed to save a number of difficult shots, only to let in a soft goal when surprised by an early first time shot. Perhaps 2010 will see the Hornets record their first Bath Winners Trophy.
26-Jul-09 - Hornets fail to place at Guildford!
The Hornets 'kept it real' again this year at Guildford by refusing to be dragged into the keen end of the competition. Despite being two-time winners in previous years the Hornets opted to concentrate on fun not results and darnk their way through the two day competition. While there were a number of wins on tour, there was nothing like the clinical finishing of old... maybe the absence of Catherine Dwyer in the grass matches is to blame or perhaps the general pony-ness of Gareth Norris in front of goal will be the reason!
27-Jun-09 - Superhornets tour to Castricum in Holland 2009.
Every year the Hornets tour to holland as the SuperHornets. The team is made up 50% from members of the UK based team and 50% made up from Dutch members of the Hornets. Typically the UK make up the male contingent of the team while the dutchies make up the female contingent. This year saw the club travel to Castricum - about 45mins outside of Amsterdam - to take part in the Wouterland Toernooi 2009. The festival was more for fun than silverware, which was just as well as the Hornets came up against the Pakistan National Mens side in the latter - drunken - stages of Saturday afternoon! 14-Apr-09 - Hornets finish as quarter-finalists at Bournemouth Easter 2009.
As part of the 10yr anniversary celebrations the Hornets returned to where it all began - Easter Tour 2009 was at the Bournemouth Festival. Despite being 10 years later there were still some survivors from the first ever Hornets tour and the team managed to roll back the years - with the help of some recruits picked up over the last decade - to finish up as quarter-finalists only one place worse than their best ever Bournemouth finish in 2001.
Mar-09 - Hornets Mugs launched to celebrate 10th Anniversary.

To commemorate the 10th year of Anglia Hornets HC a special celebratory mug has been created for all existing Hornets members & players. These mugs are strictly limited edition and will be given to first come first served within the ranks.
Jan-09 - Gemma & MJ going on a Surfing Safari!

Gemma and Mark travelled to Hawaii for the Xmas and New Year's period. The trip started briefly in O'ahu then went on to Maui, Kaua'i and then back to O'ahu with a brief stop off in Los Angeles on the way home! Not sure that either of them were quite ready to go up against Kelly Slater or could even think about mastering a cut-back!
